More than 50 experts both - local and international works on country development programs in various domains within Strategy “Aghmashenebeli”. Recently Strategy’s healthcare team presented the new model of Georgian healthcare development. Experts from Georgia, US, EU, Israel and Ukraine worked on healthcare initiatives proposed by Strategy “Aghmashenebeli”.

The goal of the new Georgian healthcare model is to create a cost-effective and efficient healthcare system based on innovation and high technology that will provide high quality medical care to patients. The quality and affordability of services provided to citizens will be one of the key features of the new model.

Agmashenebeli’s team working on healthcare reforms proposed the following initiatives:

Individual health plan for all citizens of Georgia – fundamental reform of primary healthcare

Reduce medication prices by 40% by promoting fair competition on market and tackling monopolies and cartel deals

Medications follow the patients – increase access to high quality and affordable pharmaceutical products introducing CTD registration and “Track and trace” tools

Digitalization of healthcare – Full integration of eHealth at all levels of healthcare

“Our version of Georgian healthcare model provides maximum protection and satisfaction for both patients and medical staff” – stated Dr. Sergo Chikhladze - one of the co-authors of “Georgian model of healthcare development”.

“I’d say that this is revolutionary model of healthcare reform, as first time in Georgia our team proposed how to tackle oligopoly on pharmaceutical market and the vertical monopolies when one company controls production, supply chain distribution of medications, the same time owns the network of clinics, pharmacies and insurance companies.

First time in Georgia we proposed how to reduce prices on medications and out of pocket payment which is 3 times higher than EU average. Actually we gave detailed formula how to achieve those positive changes.

First time in Georgia we proposed full digitalization of healthcare and its integration at all levels of healthcare starting from primary health. According to our reforms, all Georgian citizens will have individual health plan right from the birth. New concept of modern ambulatories and new generation family doctors are introduces by our model.

Our team also aims to turn Georgia into regional healthcare hub which is ambitious but very realistic the same time, as we have developed medical infrastructure during last decades and we have high qualified medical professionals in many fields. With right healthcare policy, proper planning, and systematic approach we can achieve drastic results in nearest 3 years”- said Dr. Sergo Chikhladze.
